My C.A.V.E 33 is a very simple retro blog which aims to show British news, reviews, advertising, articles and other material relating to the computer, arcade and video games of my era along with their systems, which started 33 years ago back in 1982. History will literally catch up with us so prepare for some old tech nostalgia to warm the hearts of all you fellow retro geeks, nerds and dorks out there. Hopefully :)

ReplyDeletePart 1 is just as fascinating as Part 2, because it shows a different corner of the Japanese market with the NEC PC-8800 and PC-8801, the smaller PC-6001, the Sharp Super MZ and X1, and the Mitsubishi Melbrains. The NEC machines in particular look like serious, work-ready systems, while the Sharp adverts bring a brighter, more consumer-focused feel that still feels very 1980s. It is easy to forget how many distinct platforms competed at once before the market narrowed, and these scans preserve that variety beautifully.
