  1. This is a wonderful slice of 1986 Japanese computing history, and the range of machines on show is striking, from the IBM JX and Toshiba Pac-One to the Sanyo MBC-500 and the Fujitsu FM77 and FM16. The advertising artwork alone tells a story about how each company tried to make its system look friendly and futuristic at the same time. I also love how the FM77 AV material leans into colour and sound, which must have been a big selling point for games and home use back then. Seeing these scans together really shows how crowded and inventive the Japanese market was compared with the UK scene. For a lighter modern break between retro reads, I have been enjoying https://kickthebuddyapk.app/, and it pairs oddly well with this kind of nostalgia.
